I've been around Porsches for a long time but never seen this type of map light.Very rare!

Bumble Bee - MY TRIP CROSS-COUNTRY

We have lent our beloved Bumble Bee to our friends John and Michele Jenkins in 2004 for their cross-counrty road trip due to their Porsche breaking down in Arizona; where Wayne Baker rescued them. They have exchanged their Porsches in Yuma and so they continued their trip with BumbleBee and put 14,000 miles on it. They have successfully completed their mission and have never gotten in an accident. They were on a mission to find the best BBQ joints in America and to visit friends and family on the East Coast. (that was before the Food Network guy doing the same in a recent TV show...)

We chose to document BumbleBee's original condition to preserve these precious memories!

Road Atlanta - April 27-29. 2012

Wayne Baker was driving the white 914 and came in middle of the bunch but he started last 35th (due to no practice) and worked up to 16th place. 25 minute Klub Sport race.

Solar Eclipse

On Sunday, May 21, 2012, Wayne and Nancy were coming out of a restaurant in La Jolla Shores with our friends Tom and Annette and we were pleasantly surprized to see the partial eclipse of the sun. It was foggy at the beach but made for a beautiful site to behold. 

Pictures were taken at the Bakers' on Mount Soledad.

On Saturday, May 12, Wayne and I took our 1958 Convertible D (Lady Bug) on an excursion around San Diego County. We recently re-acquired this car after trading it for a 1962 twin-grille Roadster in 1991. We eventually sold the Roadster and longed to have another Convertible D. It was not meant to be until Wayne contacted Doug in Carson City recently and he said he was willing to part with the car after all these years. Doug and Linda only put 9,000 miles on it in 21 yrs and the car had been sitting in their garage for the last 8 or 9 yrs not being used. After new tires, an overhaul of the brake system and tune-up, it was ready for the road.

What a sweet running car.  It was a beautiful sunny, southern California day to drive around town with the top down and visiting some of San Diego’s famous tourist sites. Soledad Mt Cross Veteran’s Memorial, Birch Aquarium, the beach at Cardiff by the Sea and the iconic Coronado Bridge. There will be many more trips to come in the future. Sebring March 15-18. 2012 Florida

Wayne was privileged and honored to be included in the 12 hours of Sebrings’ 60th Anniversary celebration being held at the Sebring International Raceway by Ken Breslauer, Sebrings’ Media Director.

Eighteen of the past winners were there for an autograph session for the die-hard Sebring fans, signing everything from program covers, commemorative posters to T-shirts.

Also at the autograph session were 4 gentlemen from the very first 12 hour race in 1952. Wayne was joined by fellow winners Bobby Rahal, Brad Frissell, Charles Mendoza and Maurico de Navarez to name a few.

The day of the race Wayne and Nancy Baker and the other winners were lucky enough to be driven around the race track in a new Mustang convertible. I would estimate a crowd of at least 300,000 in attendance. Some come every year to this event and camp out for two weeks ahead of time just to get the right spot. Pure craziness.

P.S. Steven Tyler from Aerosmith / American Idol was there too :)
