Wayne Baker Racing at Laguna Seca Monterey

Wayne Baker Racing has participated at the SCCA vintage race at Laguna Seca racetrack in Monterey, California (currently named Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca) from June 21-23.2013.
Wayne has transported, mentored and serviced two race cars: the silver/blue 904 No.33 and the yellow 914/4 No. 54. Owner and driver of these race cars is Mel A., who successfully qualified with both cars in the middle of the pack. It was Mel's first time at this beautiful race track so that made the event that much more special and exciting!

Wayne Baker Racing at Thunderhill Raceway

Wayne Baker racing ran with Mel A. the first weekend in April at Thunderhill Raceway;  which is located near Willows, California 75 miles north of Sacramento.
The yellow 914/4 2.0 liter with 200 horsepower and 4 cylinder engine was in Group1 along with 16 other cars in race. Trek is 3 miles long and has 16 turns. Race is organized by SVRA (Sportscar Vintage Racing Association).
Mel really enjoyed the race through the hills and finished 4th overall in his class.

Weekend Tours in San Diego county

It's a fun way to discover the neighborhood if you take your 356 or other Porsche out to exercise to one of the many enjoyable rides outside of San Diego. Wayne took a couple road trips with his friend and felllow 356 Club member Tom. One of these trips they went up to Ramona and took out the Carreras for a drive. Wayne took the 1974 Carrera nicknamed "Old Blue" who ran beautifully.

The other trip they took out to Campo east county. Over 100 miles going on back roads in mountains through Alpine. Again, it's another great trip to get out and exercise the cars! Wayne drove the black '59 356 "Wally" and Tom the red '63 356. Both needed the heater to be on, because it was a chilly out there.

Willow Springs Racetrack

Wayne Baker Racing had a couple days of successful training at Willow Springs International raceway. The high desert climate this time of the year is pretty uncomfortable with cold temperatures of 28-30 degrees and winds of 30 miles an hour or more. Luckily it only started to rain in the afternoon and the testing of our four Porsche race cars was uneventful. We had a good run of the 904, 911s and 914 and can't wait the start the new year with some more testing before the race season begins again...
