Porsche 914 - You gotta love them!

We have more and more customers who choose a 914 for their daily driver! That's what prompted me to write a little about the car's history and why it's loved by so many.

Wayne Baker choose his 1973 914 to be his daily driver and he just loves this little "street race car"

The Porsche 914 was first seen in the fall of 1969. The sporty car had 2 seats and came with a removable top. It also featured a boxer engine with 4 cylinders. The idea for this vehicle was collaboration between Porsche and Volkswagen. Volkswagen took the bodies of the 914 and finished them as 914/4s. Porsche would take their part of the body shell and build 914/6s. However when sold in the United States all 914s were considered Porsche.
The 914 Porsche is different from other cars made by Porsche. For instance it has pop up headlights, and a vertical rear windshield. There is also a flat deck lid which is used to cover the trunk and engine. The inside of the 914 is a very simple style that has all the necessities. There is not a lot of space other than the passenger seat. The transmission of the 914 is similar to the 928 models with first gear down and to the left. The top can be stored in the trunk just like that of the 911 models.

You can add many options to 914s like this new Monza exhaust system

Those that have owned and driven this model know that it is one of the best ever made. You can take the top off and roll down the windows and really let go. The engine is smooth running and the car handles on the road like a dream. When you drive one it feels as though your gliding through the air, the ride is so smooth. Porsche is a big name in the automotive world with a great reputation and this car is certainly one of the reasons why it has become such a popular car manufacturer over the years.

The 4-cylinder engines are quite economical in terms of gas, and thanks to a good availability of used Porsche 914 parts they are also much more affordable to repair and maintain than Porsche's 6-cylinder units.
